Say hello to Meredith’s 6th graders at the 6th grade mixer!!!!!!
Our Class Blog-
6th-7th graders working on basic computational thinking in design technology class using @codeorg.
Our 8th grade media arts class took photos of 6th grade club day and produced a digital photo album to showcase on the Meredith TVs.
Class Update: Students reviewed and a took a quiz over the components of a computer. This was an assessment after the students actually dissected a computer tower in order to learn more about what is inside of their everyday computer.
Students in Mr. Sinclair’s design class are exploring the different components of a computer and what roles each of those components play.
Students in their HLC media arts class are working on their intro photography project. They took pictures around the Meredith campus and are now using Pixlr software to edit the photos.
Meredith Student Census
8th grade students have completed a census questionnaire in their Civics classes with Mrs. Meagher and Mr. Gade. Students then took their census to technology class and represented the information using Excel graphs. Finally, students interpret the information and talk about what they have found.
7th Grade Community Center Design Project
Students in 7th grade are designing an after school center to benefit their community. Students must be open-minded when creating a center that benefits the unique demographics of the Meredith community. The center must also be fun and education for the kids the attend.
8th Grade App Project
The 8th grade app project is students trying to find apps that will be better than learning out of textbook. We have learned that students here at Meredith learn better with the use of electronics. They will be making presentations that they will present to the Meredith Technology Committee.

Use technology tools and the design cycle in designing, creating, and presenting a product or solution
Foster awareness of the social and ethical implications of technology
Use and re-inforce skills learned in other subjects.
Create students who are: Knowledgeable, Persistent, Problem-Solvers, and Digital Citizens
Each grade level will be spending a total of 18 weeks in Design class each year. We are very fortunate to have stand alone Design class at Meredith where we can teach the Design Cycle explicitly. Design is a required course for the IB MIddle Years Programme or MYP (click here to learn more about MYP). We will also teach a variety of computer softwares through the design cycle.
What is the
The design cycle is a way of thinking/organizing that will help you solve a problem by systematically creating a product or solution. The Design Cycle starts with an investigation of an issue or topic what do you want to do/ What problem do you want to solve? The next step is to plan what you think will give you will give you the outcome that you are looking for. THen you begin to create the product (or to put the plan that you have come up with into action). Finally, you will evaluate both your end product as well as your process to determine whether or not it was a success, and relfect on what you could have done different to obtain a better outcome.
